Waterfront Development along the creek line

The city of Thane has an area of 128 sq.km. and is situated between Sanjay Gandhi National Park hills on the west and the creek on the east. Out of a total area of 128 sq. km., 62 sq. km. is a green zone or no developed zone (forest & CRZ). The length of the creek is around 32 km. spreading from Diva, Mumbra and stretching towards Ghodbuder road. The waterfront project is considered as a makeover project for neglected and polluted creek area which has always been under the threat of encroachment. The waterfront will be the biggest urban renewal project to improve the urban landscape and promote tourism and recreation in Thane.

Urban Rest Rooms

Thane Municipal Corporation is an urban local body, whose one of the responsibility is the cleanliness of the entire city. Approximate 6.5 lakhs people daily use Thane Railway station, state transport station (ST stand) and local transport around the city. Thane is the central location for these commuters to go to their destination.

The Beautification plan envisions the creation of richly public amenities which will help to preserve the Masunda Talav rich cultural past through a comprehensive greening of Thane’s public realm. This new modernized look will provide an opportunity to unify the various neighbourhood and commercial corridors together into a new town vision.

Hariyali Lakefront Development

Thane is also known as the city of Lakes. It is a, home to over 35 lakes. Under the Smart Cities proposal which was prepared for Thane City and submitted to Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India projects at three lakes namely Kamal, Hariyali and Masunda which are falling in the ABD area of Thane Smart City were taken up.
